Privacy Policy

Effective 28 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Personae ("we", "us", "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account information: your email address, username, and a securely hashed version of your password (if you sign up directly) — or your name and email if you sign in with Google or Apple, in which case we never see or store your Google/Apple password.

Conversations and content: messages you send to personas, the AI-generated responses, personas you create, images you generate, and any avatar or profile image you upload.

Memory and relationship data: to make conversations feel continuous, we store summaries and specific details ("memories") extracted from your conversations, along with a relationship state (like trust or closeness) for each persona you talk to.

Usage data: which features you use, how often you use the App, and technical information like device type and app version, used to keep the App running smoothly and to improve it.

How We Use Your Information

  • To operate the App — including generating persona responses, remembering context from past conversations, and personalizing your experience.
  • To communicate with you — account verification, password reset, and important updates about the App.
  • To keep the App safe — reviewing reports of inappropriate content or behavior, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
  • To improve the App — understanding how features are used so we can make it better.
  • If you're on our free tier, to show relevant advertising (see Section 5).

Who We Share Data With

We don't sell your personal information. We do share data with the following categories of service providers, only as needed to operate the App:

  • AI providers (such as Anthropic) — to process your messages and generate persona responses. Your conversation content is sent to these providers as part of generating a reply.
  • Image generation providers (such as OpenAI) — if you use the App's image generation feature, a description is sent to generate the requested image.
  • Email delivery providers (such as Resend) — to send account verification and password reset emails.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers (such as Railway) — where your account data and messages are stored.
  • Sign-in providers (Google, Apple) — if you choose to sign in with these, they confirm your identity to us; we don't receive your password from them.
  • Advertising partners — if you're on the free, ad-supported tier, ad networks may receive limited data to show and measure ads, as described in Section 5.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

Other Users and Public Content

If you make a persona public, its content (and your username, if you've set one) becomes visible to other users through Discover and search. Messages you send within a private conversation with a persona are not visible to other users.

If you block another user, we stop showing their public content to you and yours to them, and remove any existing follow relationship between you.

Advertising

If we introduce advertising for free-tier users, ad networks we work with may collect information — such as a device identifier — to show ads and measure their performance. Where required (such as under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework), we'll ask for your permission before any cross-app tracking occurs. Subscribing to a paid tier removes ads and this associated data sharing.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account and conversation data for as long as your account is active.

You can delete your account at any time from within the App — open the Profile tab and tap Delete account. Your access ends immediately and your personas stop appearing to other people straight away.

Thirty days later, we permanently erase your conversations and generated images, everything the App remembered about you, your relationship progress, the personas you created, and your email address, username, display name, profile photo, date of birth, password, and the identifier linking your account to Google or Apple sign-in. The 30-day gap exists so an accidental deletion can be reversed if you contact us within that window; after it, the data cannot be recovered.

Once erased, we keep only an empty record containing an internal identifier and the dates of deletion, so we can confirm a deletion was carried out if you ask. It holds no personal information. Anonymous, aggregated usage counts that cannot identify you may also remain, and where the law requires us to retain something for longer, we keep only what is required and only for as long as required.

If you want to remove a single conversation without deleting your account, open that persona's profile and reset the conversation — that erases the messages and memories for that persona alone. Full instructions for both are on our account deletion page. If you'd rather request deletion by email, contact us at personaeverse.support@gmail.com.

Children's Privacy

Personae is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we've collected information from a minor, we'll delete it promptly.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise these rights, contact us at personaeverse.support@gmail.com. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and secure password hashing. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information appropriately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the App or by email.
